There's a funny story behind that. Apparently they were asked to play California Uber Alles -- I'm sure the Bammies organizers felt they were being very cutting-edge to have THAT one on the stage! -- but ... well, for what it's worth, here's Wikipedia.

"... after about 15 seconds into the song, Biafra said, "Hold it! We've gotta prove that we're adults now. We're not a punk rock band, we're a new wave band."

"The band, who all wore white shirts with a big, black S painted on the front, pulled black ties from around the backs of their necks to form a dollar sign, then started playing a new song entitled "Pull My Strings" ..."

I've wondered if anyone in the GD was there and what they thought. Phil kept getting named as Best Bass Player and once around that time apparently told the Bammies that he'd come to the ceremony if they promised to stop giving him the award.

Supposedly the DKs weren't invited back to the Bammies, but I sure do hear a lot of laughter in that crowd ...

One of those great, guerrilla moments in punk history to be sure.

I love the mock Dylan voice during the end part as well.

Got to love the DK's,they had more genuine punk spirit to them than 99% of their poser counterparts.
